Wax (Mold release agent)
Raw materials and additives of polyurethane systems
Polyurethanes adhere exceptionally well to various surfaces, including molds, making the molding process time-consuming and difficult. When parts cannot be easily removed from the mold, a release agent must be used. The appearance and surface properties of the molded sample depend on the choice of a suitable release agent. Mold release agents are divided into water-based and solvent-based categories based on their application. These materials create a physical or chemical barrier between the mold and the molded product surface, aiding in easier product release from the mold. Common mold release agents include waxes or silicones dissolved in a low-boiling organic solvent.
