Flame retardants
Raw materials and additives of polyurethane systems
Polyurethane foams are inherently flammable, so adding sufficient flame retardants can modify their combustion behavior. These materials come in various types and classifications, including liquid, powder, active, inactive, radical scavengers, char formers, etc. Generally, flame retardants do not chemically bond with the polyurethane matrix and can separate and release into the environment at any time.
